Funding drives new eco-friendly warehouse for logistics firm

Dale Brothers, a family-run business in Telford, has opened a new eco-friendly warehouse and distribution centre, supported by funding from Lloyds.

Lloyds provided £2.6m in funding through its Clean Growth Finance Initiative, which supports environmentally friendly projects with discounted lending rates.

The new facility features chilled storage and loading areas designed to improve delivery consolidation and operational flexibility while maintaining hygiene and cold-chain standards.

It also has an A-rated EPC and includes green features such as solar panels, LED lighting, and carbon-neutral steel cladding.

Neyland Dale said: “As our customers grew, their needs changed, and we knew we had to break through the glass ceiling and invest in the infrastructure to take us to the next level. We’re proud to have created something that’s future-ready and environmentally conscious, working with Lloyds, who provided the flexibility and support to make it a reality.

The company, founded in 1968 by Jeff and Alan Dale, originally traded livestock before moving into transport and logistics in the late 1990s.

It has since grown into a chilled and ambient food distribution specialist, serving clients like PDM Produce, Brian Salads, and Forrester’s Chicken.

Now led by managing directors Neyland and Robin Dale, Dale Brothers operates a fleet of 75 lorries and 110 trailers.

The company recently expanded into groupage distribution, allowing smaller shipments from different clients to be combined for more efficient deliveries.

Andy Matthews, relationship director at Lloyds said: “Dale Brothers is a great example of a business that has adapted over generations. Neyland, Robin and the team have a clear vision for the future, and it’s been a pleasure to support their expansion.
