Select, based at the World Freight Centre at Manchester Airport, specialises in warehouse and storage, European transport, airfreight haulage, UK contract haulage and aviation security. Boasting a 32-strong fleet of vehicles and employing close-on 60 members of staff, Select Transport have joined as the local Palletways Member for Manchester postcodes including Altrincham, Didsbury, Sale and Wythenshawe.
Marc Waterfield, managing director at Select Transport, said: “Joining the Palletways network will give us the opportunity to diversify our business and provide our customers with a whole host of additional services. With Palletways’ support, we’re looking forward to taking on additional postcodes and growing our presence in the North West.”
Select Transport is the premier supplier of transport solutions specialising in air freight and moving shipments across the UK and Europe. The business was founded in 1998 by John Waterfield who had one van and operated daily trips from Manchester to Scotland. John grew the business steadily, increasing the fleet until 2002 when he passed on the reigns to son Marc. As the business began to thrive, Select Transport moved to the World Freight Terminal at Manchester Airport in 2013 and just two years later, Marc brought in an investor, Ramon Mehra, to further grow the business. With a clear expansion plan, Select moved into a four times larger warehouse facility. Today, it offers x-ray facilities and ADR qualified drivers.
Select Transport is one of over 115 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network. They benefit from shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before. Imperial’s Palletways Group, famed for its industry-leading IT developments and operational systems, comprises 450+ depots and 20 hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 24 European countries, including the UK.
