Rightcharge joins Visa Ready for Fleet programme as its only recommended partner in Europe for home charging reimbursement

Fleet electrification is changing the role a fleet payments solution needs to play. Where fuel cards once only had to work at a petrol station, EVs often charge on the road or at home, overnight. For fleet suppliers building a modern EV payments offering, that means solving two distinct problems together: public charging payment and home charging reimbursement. 

Visa covers the public side through Visa Fleet 2.0, its open loop payment infrastructure for fleet and mobility. Rightcharge covers the home side with their platform that calculates the exact cost of every home session and pays drivers back automatically to their energy bill. The two platforms complement one another and allow fleet suppliers to deliver a futureproof, EV fleet payments service. 

Visa has selected Rightcharge to join its Ready for Fleet programme as its only home charging reimbursement provider in Europe. The certification validates Rightcharge’s solutions against Visa’s standards for functionality, integration, and security; recognising the platform’s ability to deliver the end to end EV charging payment infrastructure that fleet operators need as they electrify. 

Data from Rightcharge’s fleet platform shows that 27% of EV fleet charging spend happens on the public network; 73% happens at home. Any fleet supplier that only solves one side is leaving a significant portion of their customers’ charging unmanaged. 

The public side has a solution in Visa Fleet 2.0, an open loop payment infrastructure with real time tracking, spend controls, and universal acceptance wherever Visa is accepted. The home side has historically been harder. Legacy fuel card infrastructure was never designed for home energy billing and fleet managers have had to verify costs manually on an individual basis. 

Rightcharge solves the home side. The platform integrates with each driver’s home energy tariff to calculate the exact cost of every session, reimburses drivers automatically through a direct to energy bill payment, and gives fleet managers peace of mind that the driver can only charge their work vehicle. 

Fleet suppliers looking to build a complete EV fleet payments offering can now combine Visa Fleet 2.0 with Rightcharge’s home reimbursement platform. The result is a solution that covers both public and home charging payments.
