Parcel delivery company DPD has committed to a new 43,000 sq ft office and workshop facility at Badentoy North business park on the outskirts of Aberdeen. DPD has taken the facility, set on a four-acre site, on a 25-year lease deal.
Commercial property developer Dandara, who are developing the 40-acre Badentoy North site, will provide full design and build services for DPD.
Dandara expects to invest “in excess of £6 million” to deliver the distribution hub for DPD with completion targeted for March 2017.
The new site will see DPD double the size of its operations in the north-east when it relocates from its current base in Altens, and around 20 new jobs are expected to be created.
Neil Young, commercial development director at Dandara, said: “This is a significant investment in the north-east by DPD, and we are pleased to welcome them as the third major tenant at Badentoy North.
“The facility will bring the latest in logistics sorting and distribution technology to Aberdeen for the first time – DPD is now the only major delivery provider to create a regional hub with these capabilities in the north-east rather than a smaller scale delivery depot.
“Badentoy North benefits from nearby access to the main trunk road network, adjacent to the A90 and a few moments from the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, giving tenants superb connectivity to local, regional and national destinations.”
