One of the East Midlands largest haulage firms could be facing a bleak future.

B Taylor & Sons Transport, based in Huthwaite, has posted a notice of intention to appoint administrators, via law firm Shakespeare Martineau. 

The company has been trading for over 50 years. It offers distribution, driver training and warehousing services – as well as overseas freight and logistics from 250,000 sq ft of space in Nottinghamshire.

In October last year, B Taylor & Sons was acquired by Chiltern Capital Nominees In its latest accounts, made up to the end of March 2024, B Taylor & Sons, said the sector “continues to be challenging”, with “margins tight”. However, at the time, the directors were “confident” that the company was “well-placed to face the challenges ahead”.

Profit before tax for the year fell from almost £1.6m in 2023, to just over £1m last year. Turnover also fell from £17.5m to £15.8m over the same period.

At the time, the company employed 167 people. B Taylor & Sons has been contacted for comment.
