Abax helps LCV fleets tackle upcoming EU tachograph rules with new solution
Abax Group has launched Abax Tachograph, adding tachograph functionality to its unified Smart Operations platform. It will help customers with light commercial vehicles (LCVs) meet the new EU Mobility Package regulation taking effect 1 July 2026.
The new regulation will mandate the Smart Tachograph 2 (SMT2) for many LCVs (2.5 to 3.5 tonnes) used in international transport. This introduces new compliance requirements for this segment, previously only associated with heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).
For businesses that operate mixed fleets of cars, vans, and lorries, the solution is designed to prevent the fragmentation of having yet another disconnected system. Abax Tachograph allows customers to see their entire fleet on the same platform, while adding new functionality like automated downloads, violation analysis, and driver data.
‘The 2026 mandate is creating a complex compliance challenge for businesses operating LCVs internationally,’ said Emma Dyga, CEO of Abax. ‘We want to remove that complexity and offer a fully integrated solution on our platform that our customers already know and trust.’
Key features of Abax Tachograph include:
- Automated remote downloads: fulfil legal requirements for downloading driver and vehicle data without manual effort.
- Driving and rest time analysis: provide clear violation analysis to help LCV drivers and managers adhere to the new rules.
- Unified fleet view: see all vehicles, from company cars to newly regulated LCVs and HGVs, in one place.
- Advanced fleet efficiency: enhance efficiency and reduce costs with tools like real time fuel monitoring, simple routing, automated geofence alerts, and custom reports.
- AI powered custom events: use AI to quickly create highly customised and detailed event alerts for easy control of your fleet.
The launch reflects the company’s broader strategy to deliver smart operations solutions that provide end to end visibility and control across the entire fleet.
