First name signs up to major Coventry logistics park expansion

The first name has signed up to take a new unit at an expanded logistics park in Coventry.

It has been revealed that the Birkdale Sales has secured the first unit of a new 150,000 sq ft expansion of the hub.

The expansion comprises of a 64,390 sq ft Build-to-Suit for Birkdale Sales, known as DC14. There is also another, 83,606 sq ft unit, known as DC15, which has yet to be occupied.

Birkdale Sales says that the pre-leasing of the new unit is a key part of its relocation and expansion strategy. It will mean a move from its existing Coventry facility.

Jason Pickering, director of capital deployment at Prologis UK, said: “Commencing construction on DC14 and DC15 marks a significant milestone of investment for Prologis Park Coventry and reflects the confidence our customers continue to place in this location, and Prologis as a long-term partner.

“The successful pre-leasing of DC14 to Birkdale Sales is a clear demonstration of that confidence. We look forward to supporting their continued growth.

“These new facilities will deliver the quality, sustainability and operational efficiency that modern logistics businesses rely on, reinforcing the park’s long-term role as a major employment hub for the region.”

The two new buildings will include roof-mounted solar PV, EV charging infrastructure and advanced energy management systems.
