Amazon’s Bathgate delivery station becomes Europe’s largest following £50m investment

Amazon has invested more than £50m in expanding its delivery station in Bathgate, creating more than 200 seasonal roles ahead of the busy festive shopping period.

Over the past nine months, the site has undergone upgrades including the installation of new matrix technology, office improvements and construction of a new three-storey car park with electric vehicle charging.

The investment sees the delivery station in Bathgate become Amazon’s largest in Europe, serving customers across Edinburgh, St Andrews and Inverness.

Darragh Kelly, regional director at Amazon Logistics, said: “This investment marks an important step in strengthening our delivery network in Scotland, enabling us to serve customers with even greater speed and reliability.

“The weeks leading up to Christmas are always our busiest period and this expansion ensures the Bathgate team has the space, technology and resources they need to operate at scale.”

Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than £2.8bn in eastern Scotland and more than £3.7bn in the country as a whole. To date, it has created more than 3,000 full and part-time jobs in Scotland.

Amazon recently announced plans to invest £40bn in the UK over the next three years, including building four new fulfilment centres and new delivery stations nationwide, plus upgrades to its existing network of over 100 operations buildings.
