Family-run haulage and logistics firm invests in fleet

Bruce Express has invested in its fleet as it looks to the future, while also “recognising the legacy that made that possible in the first place”.

In January 2025, Bradley Bruce assumed leadership of the business as chief executive, continuing the work of his father, Barry Bruce, who built Bruce Express over 50 years.

To mark the transition. Bradley Bruce has purchased a brand-new, fully customised Mercedes truck, expanding its operational capacity and technology.

“Taking over the business gave me the opportunity to reflect on everything my father put into building Bruce Express,” said Bruce.

“This investment is about the future — improving our fleet and continuing to raise standards — but it’s also about recognising the legacy that made that possible in the first place.”

Founded in 1972, Bruce Express has grown steadily from its North East roots into a business which supports time-critical and specialist logistics requirements across multiple sectors.

Barry Bruce, former chief executive of Bruce Express Ltd, said: “It’s great that this type of leading transport investment will continue to drive the business forward. I’ve always believed that, in addition to quality and service, it is our people and our culture that make us great. To see the next generation build on that legacy — and to do it with such purpose — fills me with immense pride. This gesture from Bradley embodies the heart of our family business.”
