ArrowXL, the UK’s leading two-man home delivery expert, has been praised by a Member of Parliament after completing a warehouse expansion that will create up to 50 jobs in Wigan. Labour MP Lisa Nandy toured the upgraded facility on Friday, following the completion of a £1.7m investment in a new high bay pallet racking system.

The 15-metre-high racking, which incorporates 17,000 pallet spaces, effectively doubles the warehouse’s capacity to 34,000 spaces in total. As part of the modernisation project, ArrowXL installed upgraded flooring, high-tech lighting installations and sprinkler systems for fire prevention.

The company is already a major employer in the region with a 500-strong permanent workforce based at the site, however more jobs will be created moving forwards due to the increased capacity.

Lisa Nandy MP said: “I was pleased to see the new facility for myself and to hear about the company’s plans for future growth. It is good news for Wigan that ArrowXL has chosen to invest in our local area and I was particularly pleased to hear about the company’s plans to recruit and invest in its staff.”

Ian Howell, Chief Executive at ArrowXL, said: “The completion of this substantial investment project ensures we can now offer an increased number of warehousing and fulfilment opportunities to leading retailers, manufacturers and their associated suppliers. We are committed to supporting the local economy and we thank Ms Nandy for taking the time to visit our premises.”
